Penang

2017 Penang, Malaysia

A key and essential element of Ricky Lee Gordon's productions is represented by the strong emotional and reflective component that accompanies each of his paintings. Allowing himself to be influenced by ideas and perceptions related to a specific work environment, the interpreter conveys different themes often linked to nature, existence, how everything is interconnected and how each human being is interdependent on the other, part of a large and extensive network of connections. These recurring themes are supported by a highly evocative and surreal painting, capable of impacting and shaking the observer.

Following the splendid work created in Berlin ( Covered) Ricky Lee Gordon in Penang proposes "Nature is made to conspire with spirit to emancipate us". If the title of the work is rather explanatory of the themes and ideas that the author wanted to convey here, what captures our attention is undoubtedly the content of the intervention which is once again surreal, full of ideas and interpretations different.

First of all, Ricky Lee Gordon profoundly modifies the perception of the work surface by painting glimpse of a house inside it. In the image there is a body of water, a symbol of life, within which we see three horses and a series of birds gravitating right above the latter.
